2024 Training Schedule

Greetings all! We hope everyone is having a good new year so far.

We have our spring 2024 schedule ready, and it will be at the end of this post. We are doing a couple things different than in the past. First, we are scaling back the number of classes, mainly because of low numbers from last year. If classes fill up we may add more. Second, we will post our late summer/fall schedule probably in June. I’ve got a new part-time job that involves travel, and that’s going to keep me from being able to post the full year schedule this early in the year.

I’ll be posting events for each class probably this weekend on our facebook page, but keep in mind to reserve a seat you need to call us at 309-293-5554. Life is busy on the farm so if we miss your call please leave us a message. Prices will be the same as last year. CCW Recerts are $55. 8 hr CCW class will be $80 (for those with prior formal firearms training) and the 16 hour class is $160. Recert class fees will be paid in advance. All other classes require a $50 deposit to hold your seat. Deposits are non-refundable unless you notify us at least 48 hours prior to class that you will not be attending. The event postings on facebook will have more detailed info for each class.

Here’s our schedule:
March 16 CCW Recertification
March 17 CCW Recertification
April 6-7 8/16 hr CCW Class
April 27-28 Ladies Only CCW Class
May 11 CCW Recertification Class
May 18 Range Day

2023 Training Schedule

2023 Class schedule:

Our 2023 class schedule will be posted at the end of this post, and there’s been a few changes we’ve had to make. We require a $50 deposit to hold a seat for our concealed carry classes (8, 12 and 16 hour classes), no exceptions. The 8 hour CCW will now be $80, 12 hour will be $120 and the 16 hour will be $160. Due to increased ammo costs our gun rental fee, for those who don’t own or have access to a firearm for class, will be raised to $30. CCW Recertification class fee will be $55, paid in advance.

We will be creating individual events for each class very soon, but keep in mind just clicking “going” on the event does not hold your seat. If you want to come to a class, please give us a call at 309-293-5554 to make your reservations. Please leave us a message if we miss your call.

As you’re probably aware, the Illinois General Assembly passed, and the governor signed a sweeping gun ban, which among other things bans handgun magazines holding more than 15 rounds. Keep that in mind if you’re coming to a class, as it would not surprise me at all if we were to get an unannounced visit from ISP during a class. We’re still reviewing this law, and even though it’s already being challenged in court and we fully expect it to get tossed, for now we have to deal with it.

Now for the schedule…. Keep in mind, all dates are subject to change, and while we are posting the full schedule here, we are going to hold off until summer break creating individual events for the fall classes. We want to see how the spring session goes.

2022 Class Schedule

Folks,
Greetings, and Happy New Year! We hope you all had a peaceful and joyous holiday season, as we look forward to a new year.
Our 2022 class schedule will be posted at the end of this post, and there’s been a few changes we’ve had to make. To start, we will now be requiring a $50 deposit to hold a seat for our concealed carry classes (8, 12 and 16 hour classes), no exceptions. Material costs have increased for us, as well, so we are raising our class prices to cover our increased costs.
There’s been some significant changes to Illinois firearms statutes, particularly to the FOID Act. We’re still picking through the changes and will be posting those to the page shortly. The anti-gun politicians in Illinois hold a clear majority, and this legislation makes it abundantly clear that they are not on our side. While we do our best to keep everyone informed of changes when they occur, it’s incumbent upon you as a gun owner to make sure you’re current on gun legislation. Ignorance of the law is not a valid defense.
Now for the schedule…. Keep in mind, all dates are subject to change, and while we are posting the full schedule here, we are going to hold off until summer break creating individual events for the fall classes. We want to see how the spring session goes. We plan on adding a couple NRA classes (Personal Protection in the Home) in the near future, as well.
March 12 CCW Recertification class
March 13 CCW Recertification class
March 26-27 CCW (8, 12, 16 hr) class
April 9 CCW Recertification class
April 23-24 CCW (8, 12, 16 hr) class
May 14-15 Ladies Only (8, 12, 16 hr) CCW class

All dates are subject to change, and we may add classes depending on demand. We are keeping our class fees the same (CCW Recert $50, 8 hour CCW $75, 16 hour CCW $150). Due to the unavailability of ammo we have been forced to modify our gun rental policy. If you rent a gun from us for class it will most likely be a .22 and the fee for renting the gun and ammo will be $25. If at all possible either bring your own gun and ammo or borrow one from a friend, While we will try to accommodate those who don’t have their own gun, the ammo shortage will likely hinder our ability to do so.We will be creating events and posting them on our page soon, so keep an eye out for them. Individual events will have a more detailed description of requirements, etc. Please give us a call at 309-293-5554 if you have questions or want to sign up for a class. We’re looking forward to getting back out on the range, meeting some new friends, and having another successful year. Nov. 9 CCW Recert (3-4 hour class)

These dates are tentative and I think we will be adding a CCW Class in May once we figure out when local graduations are. We will also be doing our Range Day/Weiner Roast probably sometime in October, so keep an eye on the page for that event. I’ll soon be creating individual events to correspond with the schedule.

RECERT CLASS INFO: ISP will not let you complete your online recertification application until you are within 3 months of your CCW permit expiration date, so keep that in mind when you sign up for a recert class. We are asking for you to be considerate of those who may expire before you, and NOT sign up for a recert class until you hit the 3 month mark. So, if you don’t expire until Nov. 2019, don’t sign up for a March renewal…wait until July or August. As long as you complete your recert class, and complete your online renewal with ISP PRIOR to your CCW expiration date you will still be able to carry concealed even though your current permit may expire prior to receiving your new one. Renewal class fees are $50, paid in advance. ISP renewal fees are the same as your initial permit ($153 and change).

CCW CLASS INFO: Our 8-16 hour classes will remain pretty much the same. There will be detailed info posted with each event. Fees for the 8 hour CCW class are $75. If you have the IL Hunter Safety Card your class fee will be $115. If you need the full 16 hour class your fee will be $150. We are asking for a $25 deposit to hold a seat in all classes with the exception of the Recert classes (see RECERT CLASS INFO above). Your seat WILL NOT BE RESERVED just because you click on an event, or talk to us on the phone. While our classroom fees will remain the same as last year, we will not be offering the couples/family discount, as training materials and liability insurance are getting more expensive.

Why we do what we do…..

At Boondock Tactical, we take pride in our work. It is our goal to provide the best CCW class experience available for a reasonable price. We are proud of the product we provide, and we hope it shows to anyone who has been to one of our classes.

Now….with that being said….while it’s all fine and good to take pride in our product….what REALLY gets us excited is photos like the one we are posting now. This photograph is of the qualification target of a young lady who came to one of our CCW classes this year. She was a first-time shooter, and was somewhat nervous at the beginning of class, and even more so once we got to the range. She had some concerns….. It’s crystal clear to us that she paid attention during the basic marksmanship/fundamentals of shooting portion of the class judging by the looks of her target. When we started the live fire portion of the class she put her first four rounds out of five through the same hole! Obviously, shooting of that caliber (pun intended) got the attention of Donnie and myself…..we thought it was a fluke. Well, she kept shooting, then she switched handguns and shot some more. She changed guns two more times before finally settling for the Glock 43 (single stack 9mm). When she was done with her 30 round qualification course, she had 20 of 30 shots in the “X” ring! We were completely amazed!! I regret to inform you, this particular shooter wishes to remain anonymous, so we won’t share her name, but let’s just say this young lady is a classic example of someone who showed up a little apprehensive, not sure what to expect….and maybe even somewhat fearful. She wasn’t sure if she had what it took to qualify (and she’s not the first one we’ve had feel that way). When she got down to business, she remembered her fundamentals and focused on the task at hand, and by the time she was done, not only had she won the respect of Donnie and myself, she completely amazed every single student in her class.

This is why we teach, and why we absolutely love what we do at Boondock Tactical. We love seeing the transformation from someone unsure of themselves, to someone well on the way to developing a valuable skill set, and being confident in their own ability to nurture those skills. Nothing gives us a greater sense of satisfaction than seeing the light bulb go on inside someone’s head when they “get it”. We’ve seen so many people start out not knowing what they’re doing wrong, but before long they are correcting their own shooting errors before we can, and that is an awesome phenomenon to be a part of, and really fun for us to watch.

So, for those of you who have never shot before, or who have limited experience with firearms and may be somewhat skittish about taking that next step, you are not alone, and we are here to help. We would love to help you increase your skill set and become more confident with your firearms.

One last thing……”M”…..awesome shooting, my friend!!! We couldn’t be more proud of you, and hope to see you again soon!ridiculous
